About Dr. Rehman
Dr. Arkam Rehman has trained at esteemed & reputable residency programs of Cook County Hospital Internal Medicine in Chicago, Mount Sinai Medical Center Neurology in New York, and Marianjoy Rehabilitation Hospital’s Physical Medicine & Rehabilitaton residency program in the Chicago area. He completed his Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Residency at the Marianjoy Rehabilitation Hospital affiliated residency program where he was the Chief Resident in his final year of training, managing resident physicians from 4 different residency programs.
He further worked at the Chicago Institute of Neurosurgery & Neuroresearch (CINN) with esteemed Drs. Larry Frank & Dan Hurley during his Chief Residency rotations understanding spine & pain and furthering his knowledge & his approach to clinical problems. During his residency at the Marianjoy affiliated PM & R residency program, he published 4 research posters on Rehabilitation issues of the time instead of program requirement of one poster. He also has a publication as a first author on Alzheimer’s with world famous Dr. Inge Grundle-Iqbal with whom he researched biochemical abnormalities in Alzheimer Neurofibrillary tangles for about 2 years at New York State Institute for Basic Research, Staten Island, New York. After Graduating from residency, Dr. Rehman worked for over 3 years at Hampshire Orthopedics & Sports Medicine orthopedic clinic in Northampton, Massachusetts as an interventional Physiatrist managing all sorts of sports and spine related cases. He worked at the Athletic Health Services clinic at University of Massachusetts, Amherst campus and also treated athletes & faculty etc. from Smith College, Amherst College, Hampshire College, Mount Holyoke College, Westfield State University, and Williston High School in East Hampton, MA providing Sports & Athletic Health Services for the students/Athletes. He worked directly with Dr. Charles Mick, past President NASS (North American Spine Society), & other Orthopedists Drs. Henry Drinker, Daniel McBride, & Jon Kurtis at Hampshire Orthopedics for over 3 years. This experience enabled him to become the physician he is today and having an orthopedic musculoskeletal perspective in clinical assessments for spine, bone & Joint etc. disorders. He started using Regenerative Prolotherapy approach while at Hampshire Orthopedics & Sports Medicine that would lead to furthering his interest in Stem Cell & Regenerative Medicine therapies later in his career. He next worked with the renowned physician Dr. Andrea Trescot at “The Pain Center” in Jacksonville area for more than a year applying anesthesia approach to pain management. Dr. Trescot, past president ASIPP (American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians), played an integral role in adding to his clinical approach to pain management from Anesthesia perspective. Subsequently, he worked with Dr. Mark Spatola, Chief of Neurosurgery at the Orange Park Medical Center, for 1 year understanding Neurosurgical approach to disc and spinal arthritis issues. Dr. Rehman then established his own medical practice Sunshine Spine & Pain, PA in September 2005. There he worked alongside Dr. Arnold Graham-Smith, M.B.,B.S. MD, who was a NASS teacher to the Orthopedic Surgeons for diagnosing and treating Sacro-illiac Joint injuries surgically, and with deep involvement in SIS (Spinal Injection Society). In addition, Dr. Rehman led the Jacksonville area physicians in introducing novel therapies in Jacksonville, such as Cold Radiofrequency (Sinergy) & Simplicity Radiofrequency of sacroiliac joints and spine. He also introduced Sinergy Joint Radiofrequency for Hip & Knee joints to the Jacksonville area. During the last 14 years, he led the North Florida Physicians by offering PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma using Biomet System) treatment for sacroiliac and other injuries as an alternative to surgery. He is AGAIN leading Jacksonville Physicians by offering Cervical Percutaneous Diskectomy done via a needle instead of open surgery & fusion thus maintaining local disc mobility and preventing adjacent segment degeneration. This is besides locally performing Lumbar Percutaneous/Endoscopic Disk surgeries as an alternative to open surgeries of the spine. Regenerative Medicine advances helped shape his treatment options for medical conditions. He offers not Only Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) Injections, but also Platelet Lysate Injections, Bone Marrow Aspirate Cellular Injections to Lipo-aspirate injections in addition to Ortho-Biologics that he has used for more than a decade. Few Physicians have his experience treating different Musculoskeletal conditions with the Regenerative approach and it shows when you talk with him and he explains the pathology and what he may or may not recommend and why? With passion for teaching he was a Lecturer and a Resident Phsician Educator at the HCA run, Orange Park Medical Center Residency Programs in Internal Medicine, Family Practice, & Transitional year. He would lecture the residents to fulfill their core training requirements and the residents also did their clinical rotations in his medical practice. He has been a visiting consultant for Spine & Musculoskeletal problems at the American Spine Center in Dubai Healthcare City, Dubai. He offers the most modern and cutting-edge medical treatments to people that he sees to be revolutionary and are supposed to change the face of medicine. He is a leader in Regenerative Medicine & he has a very methodical approach to medical issues supported by medical literature and both published and unpublished evidence shared between advanced medical practitioners. ClinicalTrials.Gov is a good respoitory of Regenerative Medicine Research thats been published and in the process.
